Completely redesigned with input from athletes and guides, the new Wayback 89 features a new construction, shape and profile with K2's Titanal Touring Tech, All Terrain Rocker and Bio Resin.
This Wayback collection redefines the standard for lightweight, high-performance touring skis.

With the introduction of Titanal Touring Technology (T3), the weight of the Wayback skis has been significantly reduced - without sacrificing the downhill performance for which K2 touring skis are so well known.
This is how the revised Wayback presents itself as a tool for all those who want to conquer the backcountry and draw their "best lines ever" in the snow - all day, every day!
The tried and tested basis of the ski has been retained, but the K2 engineers have once again managed to raise the ski to a higher level through significant improvements.
The Wayback 89 presents another new technology with the Steadfast Base: Glide Better, Longer.
The Steadfast Base requires 30% less energy to produce and retains the wax 9 times longer than a high-end sintered base.
In addition, the Wayback 89 offers an absolutely lightweight touring ski with Titanal reinforcement and other key features such as the Carbon Overdrive and Snophobic Topsheet.
It is really hard to imagine such a light ski delivering such good downhill performance.
But it does!
After all, why walk all the way to the top if the descent is no fun at the end?

- Rocker: All Terrain Rocker, K2's legendary ski construction - combining the advantage of a rocker with the performance of a camber ski. Slightly raised shovel and tail to float in the snow and not hook - and classic preload under the binding for perfect grip when the going gets tough.
- Tapered Shaped: The widest parts of the shovel and tail are drawn towards the centre of the ski - this makes the ski float better and turn easier.

Lightweight meets performance: The K2 full woodcore is tuned to have enough power at the lowest possible weight.

It took a long time, but now the legendary freeride and touring skis, freestyle and twintips and piste skis are back on the "Wall of Fame" in our shop!
There are several reasons for this - on the one hand, we are now fully convinced of the material quality of the skis again (there was never any discussion about the skiing characteristics) and on the other hand, we feel that the K2 range in the freetouring/touring sector up to the not quite wide freeride skis or the freestyle and twintip skis is absolutely balanced and perfectly constructed.
