DPS Pagoda 100 RP green 23/24
Expensive as hell? No: Awesome and the best riding performance and workmanship. GUARANTEED!
DPS, a freeride core brand, has been at home on the "Wall of Fame" in our Sport65 shop for many years - why?
Then read on...
The new Pagoda 100 RP is a truly unique all-round tool that knows how to convince in almost every situation on the mountain - whether in powder, on tour or even on the piste - an incredibly broadband ski with the very highest quality of workmanship!
No matter whether you're surfing in perfect powder or slashing your way through spring snow, no matter whether you want to make a few piste kilometres on the way to the powder - the ski works.
The RP shape - thanks to its rockered and tapered tip and pintail tail is the key to absolute skiing bliss!
When you dive into your favourite terrain run, its 15m radius allows for nimble turns and ultimate control.
The 15m radius is the same for every length - DPS goes to extreme lengths to build each length in its own shape.
In tough conditions, the Pagoda construction acts like a finely tuned suspension for precise responsiveness.
To learn more about the shape and the Pagoda construction, read on...
DPS RP Shape:
The RP-Shape from DPS is a unique shape design, a 5-point radius that has been tried and tested and popular for many years.
The widest parts of the ski are located a little further behind the tip and tail, and the shovel and tail are longer and more rockered, so that only about 70% of the ski comes into contact with the snow.
This gives the RP skis a very small radius, making the skis feel very "short", but without sacrificing the smoothness and lift of a long ski.
The combination of the short turn radius with the rocker tips and tail makes this ski float up deep powder incredibly fast and plough through tracked snow.
But it always remains agile and easy to control, both at high speed but also at relatively low speed.
And on the piste, when you're making fast carving turns from edge to edge or need a lot of responsiveness and agility in the terrain between trees or in couloirs: The RP Shape handles almost like a slalom ski, holding the edge super stable.
By the way: The 15m radius is the same for every length - DPS makes the extreme effort to build every length in its own shape.
This way you determine the length of the ski, but always have the same radius.
It all sounds very theoretical - but at the latest when you have tried it out, you will feel and understand it.
DPS Pagoda Construction
Why is the ski so expensive? You will understand this when you know about the Pagoda construction.
After more than 15 years of continuous work and tinkering with carbon skis, the Pagoda construction has established itself as the new high-end standard at DPS.
Unlike almost all skis with a wood core, which consists of vertically laminated wood strings, the Pagoda skis have an additional layer of wood laminated horizontally over the other wood core.
The whole thing in a stacked arrangement (hence the name "Pagoda", which refers to an Asian architectural style with several stacked roofs).
So in short: Pagoda is a combination of three types of wood and two carbon layers in a horizontally mounted core - and that: no other ski brand does it in this way.
Of course, this makes ski construction much more complex, because each part has to be processed by hand during ski construction and inserted individually into the ski press, which requires the highest precision and expertise of the ski builders.
But: it results in a unique combination of pop and damping combined with low weight and terrific riding performance that cannot be found in any other ski on the market.
The build quality of the Pagoda skis from DPS: is outstanding, because the skis are completely manufactured directly in the USA, in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a view of the Wasatch Mountains.
Do you now understand the difference to a "normal" ski, and that the Pagoda is "expensive as hell", but also "good as hell"?

The Story
DPS Pagoda 100 RP green 23/24
About DPS...
DPS was found 2005 in Utah by Stephen Drake.
From the first days they had the goal to produce the best material for the big days of a winter - without having a big Pro-Rider team, that wastes to much money (just for their fun...).
The DPS vision is about experience, performance, and a culture dedicated to high performance charging.
Thats why we as Sport65, powderhaus.de decided to be a partner of DPS and to bring in our experience to this growing brand taht convienced us completly..
