HOKA ONE ONE was founded in 2009 in the French Alps. The word "ONE ONE" stands for "earth" and "flying" in the Maori language.
The shoes give you the feeling of flying over the earth. The founders of HOKA come from France and back then they tried to find the solution to a simple problem: In Annecy, they ran a lot in the mountains and found running downhill very stressful for the body.
Their goal: a running shoe that would allow you to run faster downhill. The result is a completely new running shoe that is a real hit both uphill and downhill and sets standards in terms of style!

When developing the running shoes, HOKA did not let themselves be guided by the standards of the time. They did not do this to be controversial, but to focus entirely on comfort and cushioning. Initially, HOKA developed shoes for trail and ultra runners, who immediately became big fans because of the cushioning and stability. Today, HOKA offers a very versatile range of running shoes.
