Smith Level Mips, matte black

The Smith Level MIPS helmet: Maximum safety with ultimate wearing comfort!

Looking for a lightweight hybrid shell helmet with MIPS technology, super stable Koroyd construction and excellent ventilation?
Then the Level MIPS from Smith is the right companion for your days in the snow!
The new Smith Level MIPS ski helmet combines Smith's advanced hybrid shell construction with Koroyd energy absorber and lightweight, optimally ventilated Aerocore technology - It offers the best of style and performance.
Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, the lightweight helmet with adjustable climate control and ventilation guarantees best wearing comfort and maximum safety on the way through the snow.
The VaporFit adjustment system is child's play to adjust and ensures a perfect fit of the helmet.
The Snapfit ear pads can also be removed if necessary and the helmet is designed for an audio system.
The inner lining of the Level MIPS is antibacterial treated and thus reduces odour pleasantly!
The MIPS technology is a lining inside the helmet that ensures that the outer shell can slide a few millimetres around the skull in the event of an impact. This reduces the rotational force - in other words: less energy is transferred to the head!

 Technical Details

Smith Level Mips, matte black

  • Weight: 550gr
  • Shell: Hybrid Shell with Koroyd Energy Absorber
HYBRID SHELL CONSTRUCTION: The best of both worlds for the highest safety demands: The HYBRID SHELL CONSTRUCTION combines the weight and comfort advantages of In-Mold technology with the robustness of the Hard Shell construction. In the event of an impact, the hard shell distributes the pressure over the entire surface and offers maximum resistance. Optimum protection is provided by the very light EPS inner shell, which offers optimum impact protection with low weight, as it perfectly encloses the back of the head. The result is a state-of-the-art top helmet with low overall weight, excellent comfort and ABS upper shell for maximum safety, best ventilation and a discreet, stylish, distinctive look.
Koroyd Energy Absorber: Koroyd offers superior shock absorption, design flexibility and ventilation compared to materials traditionally used in helmet construction. By using cylinders in the crumple zones that compress evenly during an impact, Koroyd® absorbs energy more efficiently and with less volume than any other protective material on the market. Unlike conventional protective materials, Koroyd® cylinders absorb and convert more kinetic energy, increase airflow and reduce overall weight.
Not all helmets are the same.
Cylindrical structures were developed in the aerospace industry to absorb energy. They proved to be one of nature's strongest forms. A shape that can provide the greatest impact absorption for a given length. Koroyd® uses cylinders to create a structure that behaves differently to traditional protective materials. Traditional materials act like a spring, storing and then releasing the energy. Koroyd® absorbs the energy, transforming the kinetic energy by crumpling it. This leads to better absorption of the impact energy.
  • MIPS - Multi-directional Impact Protection System
The additional MIPS improves the protection in case of rotational impact, more info: see below...
  • AirEvac™ ventilation technology with 20 ventilation slots for ultimate Smith goggle-helmet integration for fog-free lenses.
Easy-to-use ventilation is fully adjustable for comfort in varying weather conditions
  • VaporFit™ SNOW system for optimal fit
270° adjustment system allows for a comfortable, secure fit without changing padding
  • XT2 antibacterial lining, moisture wicking, removable, washable
  • Integrated goggle ventilation
The helmet's ventilation openings are adapted to the goggles to allow vapour to escape.
  • 3D molded ventilated lining, moisture wicking, removable, washable
  • Integrated goggle ventilation
Helmet vents are designed to fit goggles to allow vapor to escape.
  • Fixed goggle clip
A fixed goggle clip provides added security and keeps goggles firmly attached to the helmet
  • Removable Snapfit SL2 ear pads
The ear pads are easily removable, ideal for warmer weather conditions
  • Certificate: CE EN 1077

icon_info.gif About MIPS® Brain Protection System:
MIPS stands for Multi Directional Impact Protection System - A system that is designed to protect against impacts with different directions of movement/force.
These different directions of force are caused by impacts that hit the helmet at an angle. Classic helmets best absorb static (straight) impacts that strike at a right angle and do not create a rotational force.
Since static impacts are unrealistic and you usually hit the ground or other obstacles at an angle, the MIPS system was developed. It absorbs both static forces and rotational forces.

The model of the MIPS system is the human brain.
To protect the brain, there is a fluid between the brain and the skull bone. In the event of a blow to the head, the resulting rotational force is dissipated by minimal movements of this fluid layer and the force is not transmitted to the brain.
MIPS is a copy of this layer, so to speak.
For this purpose, a movable second shell is mounted in the outer shell of the helmet. This second shell rests directly on the head.
Now, if an impact occurs at an angle, the resulting rotational force is not transferred to the head, but is dissipated by the movement between the first and second shells. This system is very effective and can be integrated into any helmet without major problems.
