 Trip description

Follow the Snow! Best of Aostatal

icon_info.gif Your destination...

... is not known yet!
#righttimerightplace... is the motto for these camps. We go where the freshest snow waits and best conditions are to be expected.

Once again a new idea, we tested out last winter:
Away from the overcrowded "Freeride hotspots" around Innsbruck, Andermatt or Engelberg. The journey to get there is a little longer, but it is totally worth it. The incomarable flair of the Aosta valley in Italy. A lot of skiing, delicious food, dolce vita...

Being as flexible as possible, finding the best snow and best conditions possible - all this in the middle of the highest and most spectacular freeride areas in the world.
Deciding each and every morning where to go - stressfree and without crowds?

As per our motto #righttimerightplace we found this area to be the perfect location for a amazing "freeride safari" in the Aosta valley somewhere between Châtillon and Aosta. From there we can quickly decide - depending on weather, snow, wind, etc. - where we can find the best and safe conditions.
Quickly through the Montblanc tunnel to Chamonix or via Cervinia to the northern side of the alps to Zermatt.
Treeruns in La Thuile or a day on the southern side of the Montblanc in Courmayeur.
Or directly from the highway into the gondola in Pila - everything is possible around there.
And don't forget: Heliskiing is possible there as well.
Great idea huh?
This way we can almost guarantee our philosophy #righttimerightplace!

icon_info.gif Required skills for the Follow the Snow! Camps:

Frist and foremost: flexibility!
We will decide where to go in short terms to guarantee the best conditions possible.
Note: We try our best but we can not influence the wheater. At least not yet...Therefore even on a Follow the Snow! Camp we can not give a powder guarantee but as already said we keep doing our best..

Your expectations...

  • Experience new untouched terrain and lost valleys accompanied by a UIAGM mountain guide and Sport65 Safety guide. On the hunt for fresh snow, but always with a maximum in safety!
  • Short hikes with skins are common, ranging from 20 minutes up to two hours. Depending on strength and ability of the group and first and foremost the snow conditions. If there is fresh powder next to the lifts, we will not start hiking past it. No worries!
Hikes are not seen as a "Skitour" in the end they are only means to an end to reach nice runs and get away from the hustle in the ski resort. Thats why we travel to the destination with the most promising conditions :)
  • If needed we will do some rappelling as well to reach couloirs and untouched faces.
  • But: No worries as already mentioned we are not hiking, skinning or climbing for fun...it's all about the descent!
  • More over the mountaing guides teach you how to read a mountain and raise the awareness of alpine hazards and how to handle them.
  • You are flexible and the perfect conditions are more important to you then a luxury accomondation.
Than you found the right trip- untracked faces, deep powder or perfect firn conditions are what we are looking for!
  • The accomodation is not the most important thing for you!
  • Size of the group : Only 5-7 participants per mountain guide and safety guide! Thats two guides per group!

Your requirements...

  • Skiing skills: Experienced skiers off piste skiing all kind of terrain fluently with very good technique
  • Fitness level: Physical strenght and fitness is mandatory - we are skiing off-piste!
The guides will plan the tours and days suiting the groups strenght and abilities.
  • Previous knowledge: Already spent a lot of time off pist. In the best case you have already joined one of our freeride camps before. So we can guarantee you a lot of fun!
Experience in: Mounting and hiking with skins
Handling and basic knowledge of avalanche safety gear.
Experience in rappelling is not mandatory, if needed our guides will show you how to.
  • Equipment: Allmountain/Freeride skis with a min. of 95mm under foot with mountaineering bindings and skins as well as the full avalanche equipment (shovel, probe, beacon) and a harness. If you need to rent any of this, no problem! Let us know.
  • Snowboarder: Normally can not participate on an Follow the Snow Camp, because skiers and snowboardes are moving too different in the backcountry.
But: If you are a a very skilled Splitboarder with experience in Hiking with skins or if you are a mixed group we can organize a camp for you!

icon_info.gif Important information, rules and parts of booking at freeride trips:

  • All backcountry equipment (backpack, beacon, shovel, probe) is required.
  • A ski-backpack which you can carry skis with (no mountain biking backpack).

  • On Sport 65 freeride trips the certified UIAGM mountainguides or Staatliche Ski-Instructors accept responsibility for the group.

  • Only a limited number of participants can be accepted on each trip.
  • The minimum number of people on this trip is: 5 people
  • Individual participants can be excluded from a tour or change groups when all requirements are not met and/or when they put themselves, the group or the mountain guides at risk.
A lack of riding skills, fitness and/or snow is not an acceptation for refund!
  • Sport65 is allowed to cancel this trip 15 days before start in case of not reaching the minium number of participants.

Montblanc Freerideregion (Courmayeur, Chamonix, La Thuile, Pila,...)

Sorry, we did not translate the skiresorts facts in English.
But you may rest assured that this resort is a fabulous freeride spot!

Feel free to contact us for further information or visit the website of the resort...

Ein Traum: Freeriden & Heliski im Schatten des Montblanc...

Wow!

Eigentlich muss man hier sagen: OHNE WORTE- EINFACH ANSCHAUEN!

Breuil-Cervinia / Valtournenche, Freeride the italian way...

Sorry, we did not translate the skiresorts facts in English.
But you may rest assured that this resort is a fabulous freeride spot!

Feel free to contact us for further information or visit the website of the resort...

  • Gesamt Pistenkilometer: ca. 146 km (Cervinia/Valtournenche), 200 km (Zermatt)

Hier geht einfach alles!

Freeride Paradise Monterosa Ski (Gressoney/Champoluc/Alagna)

Sorry, we did not translate the skiresorts facts in English language.
But you may rest assured that this resort is a fabulous freeride spot!
Endless runs and a bunch full of off-piste possibilties are waiting for all our freeride levels.

Feel free to contact us for further information or visit the website of the resort.
